USCA shows phenomenal growth in College Participation
The US Collegiate Archery Association's Annual meeting was held on 19 May 2011 at James Madison University. Over the last three years, USCA has had tremendous growth as a direct result of the leadership and dedication of Executive Director Lorretta Sinclair and the USCA Board of Directors. In the three years since Director Sinclair secured the first-ever funding for college archery, the number of clubs have grown from less than 45 to nearly 100. Additionally, both Indoor and Outdoor National Competition participation has also increased phenomenally.
At the premiere event for college archery, the US Intercollegiate Archery Championship, participation has increased 64% over the last five years. With a record number of participants in 2011, registrations increased 23% this year alone.
The National Indoor Championship has also had significant growth. While the 2007 registrations are not available, USCA has had a 49% increase in participation since 2008 and a 32% increase over the last two years. In 2011, USCA had a record number of archers (379) compete for National Indoor honors.
