The first-ever 3D Collegiate Awards were presented on Sunday at the
ASA Easton Arrows ProAm in Gainesville, Florida. University of Florida's Orange and Blue Archery Team swept the collegiate categories. Rhys Harrison won for the compound men in the Collegiate Known 45, while Christine Mudge took top honors in the Collegiate Recurve Women's known 45. Eric Mudge, also of the University of Florida, won in the Collegiate Compound Men's Known 45.
Director of USCA Lorretta Sinclair was in attendance for this inaugural event. Sinclair expressed her excitement at attending to promote
college archery and be on hand to watch the awards being provided:
"The goal of USCA is to be an inclusive organization and ensure
all college archers have opportunities to compete. The ASA has been very supportive in bringing collegiate awards to their tournaments." According to University of Florida Archery Team President Rhys Harrison, "this was so much fun, we want to do it again!"
The USCA extends special thanks to Mike Tyrell, Laval D. Falks, and the entire ASA organization for supporting college archery.
Next up for Collegiate 3D archers is the Hoyt USA Pro-Am, March 5-7 in Columbus, Georgia. Collegiate archers can register at www.asaarchery.com and must make sure they are eligible to compete prior to competition.
