In 2009, under the leadership of Director Lorretta Sinclair, the US Collegiate Archery Association received a grant from the Easton Foundations to support College Archery. The funding was used to increase visibility and promotion of the program and offer scholarships, coach training, athlete workshops and support infrastructure.
Due to the diligent efforts of the USCA Board of Directors in moving the program forward as a professional organization, the USCA has received the funding for the second of the three year grant, providing $137,000 for 2010. In an effort to continue the growth of the program, Director Sinclair submitted an additional grant of $118,400 which was approved, bringing the total 2010 funding for USCA to $255,400. A large percentage of this funding will be allocated toward supporting small clubs in growth, retention and stability, assist with new club growth, and support USCA coaches and athletes by creating materials and training opportunities specifically for college clubsS.
Sinclair states, “The support we receive from Easton Foundations is phenomenal. The additional funds will allow USCA to help grow current clubs and begin new ones, which is vital to our success. Over the last year, we were able to attend twelve different events promoting college archery. The addition of 18 clubs shows that the funding makes a difference for this organization.
USCA would like to thank the Easton Foundations for their support. USCA partners with all archery organizations in an effort to provide opportunities for all college archers. With these efforts, USCA is poised to meet the mission and vision of archery becoming part of the campus experience at universities and colleges across the United States.
