JMU Archers take Gold at the 2008 Arizona Cup

The winds were tricky and relentless all weekend at the BEN AVERY SHOOTING FACILITY in Phoenix, but that didn’t stop the college archers from giving it their best. The highlight of the tournament … JMU archers Braden Gellenthien and Brittany Lorenti took top honors in the Men’s and Women’s Compound Divisions.

In both the men’s and women’s senior division, our full-time students continue to excel. The men’s recurve team of Dakota Sinclair (Arizona State University), Jeff Anderson (University of Washington) and teammate Ted Holland finished in 1st place, handily winning over the resident athlete teams and team Canada. Team Hoyt, with JMU’s Braden Gellenthien took 1st place in the compound men’s division.

Other notable individual finishes included Dakota Sinclair’s 8th place finish in the recurve men’s division; Robin Liang (Columbia Univ) finished 8th in the women’s recurve division; and University of Washington’s Erin Mickelberry tied former Olympian Karen Scavatto for 9th place.
