Idaho State University student Logan Wilde has spent his summer traveling the world competing in the 2006 Meteksan Archery World Cup. Traveling and competing with him are top U.S. Compound archers including Dave Cousins, and Logan’s dad Dee and brother Reo. Together, the four men have stacked up a number of achievements for the World Cup season.
After competing in Croatia in May 2006, Logan’s next leg of the tour was June 20-25 in San Salvador, El Salvador where he faced his brother Reo in the finals. Logan brought home the gold in a close match with Reo 116-115. Reo claimed the silver and the U.S. Men’s Compound Team comprised of Dave Cousins, Reo and Logan, set a new world record in the team qualification round.
The U.S. Men’s Compound Team of Cousins, Reo Wilde and Logan Wilde shot their way to a world record in the Team Qualification Round, finishing with 4202 points, the first time the 4200 points barrier had been broken in a team FITA Round. Cousins shot a score of 1407, while Reo Wilde shot a 1402 and Logan Wilde finished with 1393 points. The trio then went on to beat Mexico 236-228 and brought home the bronze medal in the team elimination matches.
At the end of this competition, the overall World Cup rankings have Reo Wilde in first place, Logan Wilde in 8th, Cousins in 10th and Dee Wilde in 24th. The fourth leg of the tour will be in Shangai, China in September, with the finals in Meredia, Mexico in October.
Logan is the only collegiate archer participating in the Meteskan World Archery Cup.
CONGRATULATIONS LOGAN!
